Albarracín
The city is located at an altitude of 1200m and is surrounded by the meander of the Guadalaviar River and the defensive system of the 10th century wall, with the two main towers, the Andador tower from the 10th century and the Doña Blanca tower from the 13th century, which together with the Alcazaba, the main residence that was located on the upper level of the enclosure and had a large cistern under the courtyard, as well as a hamman (Arab bath), create an impregnable defensive system for Albarracin.
The medieval village is a journey back in time… walking through its streets takes us back in time and into the past.
It has been a National Monument since 1961, was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts in 1996, was nominated by UNESCO for World Heritage status, and is a member of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain.
